Illinois Pioneer Coalition (IPC) Music & Memorysm Certification Grants

About IPC Music & Memorysm Certification Grants
Dan Cohen founded Music &Memory in 2008 to bring personalized music to residents of long-term care communities by utilizing iPods. His initial idea was simple- if he ended up in a nursing home, he wanted to be able to listen to his favorite ‘60s music. His goal was to assist residents in accessing their favorite music in order to improve their quality of life. Quickly the benefits were realized and since that time, the Music & Memorysm program has proven to be an exemplary way for those suffering from dementia, mental illness, or simply boredom to access the transformative, therapeutic benefits of personalized music. The program has spread throughout the country and is now utilized internationally.
The Illinois Pioneer Coalition (IPC) is the leading organization seeking to improve the quality of life for residents of long-term care facilities by promoting culture change and person-centered care. In step with this mission, the IPC has obtained funding to award grants to 25 organizations to become Music and Memorysm Certified.
